Internships

The Chicago Conservation Center welcomes student internship inquiries. All internships are unpaid and are offered year-round. The Center asks for a minimum four-month commitment, with the ability to work 2-3 full days a week.

TEXTILE CONSERVATION INTERNSHIP
The Chicago Conservation Center is seeking interns who are interested in conserving textiles for an art conservation company.  This position will primarily entail assisting our textile conservator with the handling and cleaning of textiles and costumes. This is a 6 month commitment and will provide hands-on experience with conservation techniques and practices. Experience with handling, cleaning and washing historical textiles and costumes is preferred. All internships are unpaid.

ADMINISTRATIVE INTERNSHIP
The Chicago Conservation Center is seeking student interns who are interested in working in marketing, publicity, client services, web design or account management for an art conservation company.

REGISTRAR INTERNSHIP
The Chicago Conservation Center is seeking student interns who are interested in working in the Registrar Department for an art conservation company. Task would include but not limited to: art identification, inventorying, condition reports, art handling etc.

The American Institute for Conservation website offers valuable information for students seeking to learn more about the field of fine art conservation as a professional career.
